Superintendent Applegarth explained how the Metropolitan Police are being reorganised across London

This is partly in response to the Government making major cuts to the Police budget, and partly because all major organisations need to continually review, and if necessary, change their work priorities to ensure that they are operating at maximum efficiency. There is now new technology, faster response times and enhanced communication available. The planning for change has been, as we would expect, meticulous!  Superintendent Applegarth is a member of the senior management team bringing about this successful reorganisation. Kingston is one of the safest Borough’s in London and Chessington and  Hook  are the safest wards with the lowest crime rate in Kingston.  Let’s all contribute to keep it that way.

He also spoke about an unfortunate incident  which had occurred that day.  Unusual for Chessington,  he advised it was almost certainly due to the same cause as the other stabbings in various Inner London boroughs.

Our residents association is a voluntary, non political organisation working for the residents of Hook and Chessington.   The aim of the association is to ensure that residents have a strong and meaningful voice on matters that have an impact on their community.

In these pages you will be able to see the work of the executive committee through minutes of monthly meetings and be able to voice your own opinions on issues that affect you by contacting us.   Our monthly meetings are held in the St Paul’s Centre, next to St Paul’s Church, Hook, on the first Tuesday evening of each month at 8 o’clock.

From time to time there will be the opportunity to take part in, for example, discussions on topics ranging from contentious planning applications to speeding and pollution along the A243; waste disposal is another issue that has reared its ugly head and will need to be dealt with in the very near future.

Most of all it is a site that will enable you to see what is going on in the local area that affects us all.

Please feel free to contact the Association at any time through the link on this page.
