Chessington District Residents’ Association executive committee member Rob Robb has established Neighbourhood Watch Dog Watch (NHWDW), a new initiative which we believe to be the first in the country. NHWDW recruits the help of dog owners and walkers in the South of the Borough community to report non-urgent issues they come across while out walking their four-legged furry friends. This may be antisocial behaviour, but it’s more likely to be graffiti, fly tipping, damage to fences, benches, or street furniture etc.

If you find any issues on these walks that are not of an urgent nature requiring you to call either 999 or 101, you can report them to Rob at nhwdogwatch@robb.eu.com

“The last thing we want people to do is to confront anyone or put themselves in any danger” says Rob Robb, a Chessington resident of many years. “Just report it to me and I will make sure it goes to the right organisation and the right person. If you can take a photo on your phone, that would help too.

“Unless you give your permission, I will not pass on your details. But I will give you feedback as to what happens with your report” adds Rob.

Rob has the support and co-operation of Sergeant Oli Shearer of our Police Safer Neighbourhood Team and Richard Dean, our RBK South of the Borough Neighbourhood Manager. The initiative also has the backing of the national Neighbourhood Watch team. So it’s official!

Want to enrol?

Please email nhwdogwatch@robb.eu.com with your name (and your canine family members name(s)), email address, mobile/home phone number and home address.

If you’d like a dog watch lapel badge and/or dog collar disc, just ask Rob. “The badges help recognise another member, maybe introduce yourselves and get to know each other!” says Rob.

Keeping our community a safe, clean and environmentally friendly place to live and raise our families, needs to be a partnership between us all. Getting involved in our new Neighbourhood Dog Watch will go a long way to help and contribute to making our neighbourhood a great place to live.

Dog friendly walks

From time-to-time NHWDW will pass on interesting information like this excellent initiative from Ben Stockwell from Citizen Zoo. Join Ben on a nature-friendly dog walk at Tolworth Court Farm on 22nd August.
