Draft aspirations for Kingston’s Ancient Market Place

Earlier this year, the council sought your feedback on the draft aspirations for the Market Place in Kingston’s town centre and the improvements you would like to see in the future.
Your input is being used to create a brief to find an operator for the space, whom the council expects to select and appoint by the end of the year. The new lease would commence in April 2025, following the expiration of the current market operator’s lease.
The key issues from your feedback were:
- Accessibility: Ensuring the Market House is more accessible is a significant concern
- Public toilets: There is a strong demand for reopening public toilets.
- Balancing modern initiatives and local heritage: Respondents want to balance modern ideas with historical preservation.
